As a Type II diabetic, you already know that weight loss helps you control your blood sugar. But you also knew that diabetes makes it harder to lose weight than for non-diabetics. Medifast meals can help you control your blood sugar and lose weight over the long term.
In 2005, a study was presented at the American Diabetes Association’s annual Scientific Sessions, the world’s largest and most prestigious diabetes conference. Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health compared the weight loss for people on the Medifast Plus for Diabetics meal plan and people on the standard American Dietary Association meals.
The results showed a clear advantage when using Medifast. Over 34 weeks, 61% of people using Medifast lost at least 5% of their body weight versus 23% who were on the ADA diet. Of those who lost weight, the average weight loss was 6.8% of bodyweight for Medifast users versus 3.7%.
After a 52-week maintenance period, 44% of the Medifast users lost more than 5% of their body weight while a mere 14% accomplished the same results while not using Medifast. The number of participants who stayed on the Medifast diet was greater than the those who stayed on the standard ADA diet.
Simply put, going on the Medifast Plus for Diabetics meal plan gives you a much higher chance of losing more weight. It’s time you lost the weight and kept it off. Be sure to discuss calorie levels with your doctor when beginning a Medifast Program.
