Bathroom Scale Lies

Weight loss beyond the scale.

The scale doesn’t really tell your story…

One of the biggest complaints I hear from people I coach on the Medifast plan is…”I’m just not seeing any results on my bathroom scale!” I know the frustration, I’ve been there too. You work and work and work…yet the needle barely moves.

What do I do? I give them a reality check and sometimes it shocks them. I walk over and pull on the waist line of their pants. It has a lot of give usually. “These were pretty snug when you started, now look at them.”

So, here we are on Motivation Friday. It is time to get off your scale and start looking at your full-length mirror every morning. Don’t have one? Here is what you are going to do. Drive down to your local thrift shop and chances are there is at least one. They will be cheap. It doesn’t need to be fancy. You can keep it tucked away in your closet and just pull it out in the mornings.

Take a good look at yourself. A really long and steady look. Notice your shape. What do you want changed? You see, it isn’t the weight that is the issue, it is the way it is distributed on your body. By looking at yourself in the mirror, you see what others do. Face it, no one out in public is going to make you stand on a scale to see how much weight you have lost. Instead, they will only pay attention to how you look when they give you a passing glance. How you look and how you feel should be your focal point, not what your scale tells you. Even skinny people can weigh a lot.

We are after a double win for you – looking great on the outside and feeling healthy on the inside. One of my clients Kathy, lost just three pounds in her first month on Medifast, but she dropped two full dress sizes and she had a NOTICEABLE difference. That is what you are after too. You want people to notice your reduction – and it is better to have a slight weight loss and have a trimmer looking you! So, stick with Medifast and the new way you are eating and taking care of yourself. You and others will start seeing a difference!
